Savannah can feel like a modern wasteland when it comes to contemporary men's fashion brands. When dreaming up Cosimo, we envisioned an assortment of exciting emerging brands within the more traditional menswear/womenswear binary where we could blur the lines across categories. We were immediately drawn to Carrer: they translate codes of classic workwear into elevated silhouettes that made sense for our girlfriends, boyfriends, and Dads alike. Even more so, we were excited to be the first small independent retailer in the North America to represent the line as they navigate expanding their presence into the US market.
"Carrer" translates to street. Founded by Marc Forné and Manu Ríos, the brand ethos reinterprets timeless classics with a contemporary edge. The result? Everyday lived-in pieces, masculine yet a little sexy. This should come as no surprise to those of you digital natives familiar with Forné and Ríos. Ríos is a model, actor, and instagram-heartthrob, while Forné is a stylist to the stars, responsible for Troye Sivan's boundary pushing looks for his 2024 SWEAT Tour.

The two have been friends since their teenage years, bonding over their shared small town Catalonian roots. Forné styled Ríos in the early days of his career. Alongside business partners and friends, the two coexist as a stylist/muse powerhouse.
Despite their respective It-boy status, the two lead the brand with a quality and narrative first approach, shelving influencer roles in order to build their brand organically. The result? Expertly constructed garments that carry a distinct narrative across seasons, designed by tastemakers at the forefront of menswear culture.
Carrer collections provide updates to classic staples. Think khaki chino shorts, slightly exaggerated in proportion with a prominent silver button fly, double layered tees, a cream linen trouser in the silhouette of a tear-away track pant, and denim bomber jackets with structured collars to perfectly pop up around the jawline. Fresh and edgy, balanced with relaxed and wearable.
Carrer is exactly the kind of menswear we wanted to bring to Savannah: familiar enough to feel timeless, but with just enough fun to make getting dressed feel exciting again.

When you've passed a few in Savannah, you learn that summer is not a season but a lifestyle. Our infamous heat that envelops the city from April to early October thanklessly renders seasonality irrelevant. Having grown up in the stifling heat of the Lowcountry, I know in my bones that the only way to enjoy a long Southern summer is to give yourself over to it rather than fighting it with any effort to "cool off." So if August is getting to you, I offer up a few summer-loving suggestions to watch, read, and eat, and advice to take or leave: spend all your free time at the beach, give into near nudity, cold watermelon is a food group, and you have nothing to prove by exercising intensely outdoors in August.
To watch: My favorite cinematic genre, year-round really, is a Euro summer pool/beachside jaunt, bonus points for eroticism or mystery (La Piscine, Call Me by Your Name, Plein Soleil, so on). In the summer I am always seeking out movies that balance action with that languid sexiness we all crave in August when our media intake can't be any heavier than the air around us. Peter Yates's The Deep (1977) gives us adventure, summer erotique, scuba diving, and more! Set in Bermuda following a young, impossibly tan Nick Nolte and Jaqueline Bisset in breathtaking underwater scuba diving scenes, it is at once thrilling as an action flick and mesmerizing as an under the sea episode of Planet Earth. When you've finished the film and are left craving more, visit the "making of" documentary that chronicles the 4,000 some odd dives the cast and crew endured across 4 separate locations to capture the magic of diving a Bermudian reef amongst a shipwreck in hunt of centuries old treasure.

To read: The same lackadaisical mood that keeps me re-watching my favorite summer films on loop binds me to Eve Babitz in the summer. Slow Days, Fast Company is the perfect poolside read if you're someone who values a tan or has ever spent time in Los Angeles. Sex and Rage is my counter offer to East Coast girlies. Both are gossipy, gorgeous, and laugh out loud funny.
To snack on: Cantaloupe and prosciutto. Preferably your cantaloupe is from Adam's Farm stand at the Forsyth Park Farmer's market or Davis Produce. A little prosciutto secret… you can ask for it by the pound at Frali Gourmet, there's no better Italian deli offering in town.
To wear: Kate Mcleod Aftersun stone… any close encounters I've had with a sunburn this summer vanished overnight thanks to this magic balm. Pick one up from our apothecary section along with a shimmery summer nail color just for fun!
